• Canadian immigration programs are administered by both the federal and provincial governments. Quebec has its own immigration administration programs.
• Ultimately the federal government is the department issuing the visas
• Current programs are divided into 3 broad categories:
  Economic
  Family
  Refugee and Compassionate Grounds
• The Express Entry is not an immigration program per se. It is a system to administer the immigration applications from the Economic category and it has been successfully instituted since 2015. Be aware that the Express Entry is not another immigration program, it is an express way for IRCC to manage applications.
• The Canadian immigration intake targets are announced late in each year for subsequent years.
• Our immigration minister had recently announced we intend to increase the intake up to 350,000 new immigrants by 2021!
